I'm super excited to announce that One Inch Badge and OH Productions are bringing over two of our favourite world-jazz hip-hop party bands HYPNOTIC BRASS ENSEMBLE and THE SOULJAZZ ORCHESTRA to the UK for shows in MANCHESTER / LONDON / BRIGHTON / BRISTOL, it's gonna be INSANE!

For those unaware of the HYPNOTIC BRASS ENSEMBLE they're a Chicago based 9-piece brass ensemble that bring together 8 sons of Phil Cohran the legendary Sun Ra Arkestra trumpeter who wrote over 5000 songs. Signed to Damon Albarn's 'Honest Jon's' label (now a sub of Parlophone), Hypnotic Brass Ensemble have recorded with Erykah Badu and Maxwell as well as toured with Blur and Mos Def and feature all over the latest Gorillaz album 'Plastic Beach' even featuring alongside Snoop Dogg! In 2009 they released their debut album proper titled HYPONOTIC BRASS ENSEMBLE, it was a very cleaver, exciting and completely organic world jazz hip-hop party record that has been on solid office rotation for the past 6 months, it also features contributions from Damon Albarn himself and Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

HYPNOTIC BRASS ENSEMBLE - Live on Jools Holland

Support on all dates (except Manchester) comes from THE SOULJAZZ ORCHESTRA. Based in Ottawa The Souljazz Orchestra are a 6-piece Canadian band that expand upon the rough and raw grooves of the 1960s and 1970s by taking on an eclectic, genre-bending approach, enriched by musical traditions stemming from both sides of the Atlantic. The resulting sound is enthralling and unique: a potent mixture of funk, soul, jazz, afro and latin rhythms, supported by an arsenal of dusty keyboards and driven by powerful horn-drenched melodies. Heavily championed by Gilles Peterson, The Souljazz Orchestra have recorded with Horace Andy, Mighty Popo, and Dele Sosimi. Their new album 'Rising Sun', due out February on Strut, has already been hailed by Peterson as the band's best effort to date.
